How Much AI is Too Much AI?

At a recent meeting with a potential client, the confident gentleman managing the company said, “Your job is to use AI for everything. Basically, you’re just monitoring what AI does. I want to push out 50 videos a day.” I sat across the desk from him, impressed by his bravado. He told me that CLAUDE is the new and best AI platform and it far outperforms ChatGPT because ChatGPT is always nice to you. I use ChatGPT for certain things and he’s not wrong about it. You have to tell it to stop being nice. But I found myself thinking, is pushing out 50 AI generated videos per day a new and better practice?

I returned to my office and pulled up CLAUDE on my computer. I put in a prompt saying, “I’m leading the marketing for a window installer and the CEO wants to use AI to generate 50 videos a day.” I went on to say that my instincts did not align with this theory and asked for guidance. CLAUDE agreed with me. AI generated content, used without any organic or “real” content, pushed out in that volume, would not be an effective marketing plan.

It was nice to have my instincts validated. But more importantly, even AI confirmed that too much AI is not good for business. I’m discouraged each time I see a business using AI for everything on their social media channels. I immediately tune out. In fact, with a plethora of misinformation so rampantly invading every aspect of our digital footprint, all I want to do is leave it all behind. I’m equally discouraged to recieve an email that is AI generated. Why bother?

AI is a great tool for many things. I used it to scan my website to check for errors and analyze SEO. I use AI to scan lengthy documents for specific information without taking the time to read it in its entirety. And sometimes I use AI to create absurd photos that are clearly AI generated and are not intended to look like they are real.

If you’re using social media, stop using AI to generate content. Instead of Artificial Intelligence, try RI – REAL INTELLIGENCE instead. You’ll garner more trust, more connection and more conversions. Stop looking like everyone else. Be yourself, be real, be human. And lastly, the photo used here is simply stock photography, modified in Canva to be black and white instead of a color photo.
